Places
You can customize the following in Virtual Places: community servers, your tour, screen layout, and preferences. You can also customize your personal information. Configuring Virtual Places Community Servers A Community Server provides its community with "co-presence" capabilities for the entire World Wide Web. For example, using such a server at AOL, AOL members can meet on any Web page in the world, chat, and go on guided tours of the Web together. People may belong to multiple communities, depending on their areas of interest. You can configure a community server for each community of which you are a member. Customizing Your Tour You can customize your tour name and graphic using the simple tools provided. Customizing Your Main Window Following are instructions for customizing your Virtual Places windows and the display size of avatars in the browser. 1. Optionally change the layout of Virtual Places by selecting different layouts from the View menu, or toggling through the layouts using the Layout button on the toolbar. Optionally save the new layout for the next session by selecting View, Save Layout. 2. Optionally toggle the Show Large Avatars view on or off by selecting or deselecting Avatars, Show Large Avatars. Changing Virtual Places Preferences You can configure the general startup options and view file and directory locations. 1. Configure the startup options by selecting Tools, Preferences... 2. The Preferences dialog box is displayed, with the default information in the appropriate fields. 3. Use the tabs to toggle between the panes, and optionally make changes to the settings. 4. Press OK to close the dialog box and save changes; press Cancel to close the dialog box without saving changes. |
