The Chat Pane is where you send and receive chat text and gestures. The Chat Pane is part of the Communications Manager and can also be opened into multiple standalone windows by double-clicking on the relevant tab. It contains the following fields and button:

Chat Transcript

Displays the text and gestures sent in the currently selected chat. A broken line separates conversations (for example, in the Chat Room transcript, when you move from room to room). Text you send is displayed in blue.

Text to Send

Type the message you wish to send in this section; press ENTER or click the Send button to transmit the message. The length of the text is limited to 200 characters.

Gesture button

Click this button to open the Gesture Palette. Once you select a gesture, its icon is displayed on the button and the palette is closed.

Send button

Click this button to send the message in the text and/or gesture in the send line. If you have selected an animated gesture, a gesture indicator is displayed in the Send button. (Alternately, you can press ENTER to send the text and/or gesture.)

Make Tab button

When the chat is in a standalone window, click this button to collapse it back into the Communications Manager.
