If you have verified your sound card is functioning properly by using your CD-ROM player or the Sound Recorder as described above, then it is likely that a firewall stands between you and the other participants.
Check with your Network Administrator to ensure the ports used by Excite Voice Chat (TCP 3450 and TCP 8000-9000) are not blocked in either direction.
