Voice controls

When the Voice feature of Excite Chat is active, a set of "On" and "Off" buttons appear on your screen. If you do not want to talk or listen to other people in the room, simply click the "Off" button. Then click "On" when you want to talk.

If you see "voice inactive" on your screen, the feature is inactive for one of these reasons:

  • You are in a room where Voice is not allowed.
  • You are an observer.
  • Your computer is having a problem with the Voice feature.
Volume meter
The volume meter for Voice appears as a vertical row of circles to the left of the voice chat controls. When Voice is On, the meter indicates the volume at which others are speaking. When you press the Control key and talk, the meter displays the volume of your voice. 
The volume meter is self adjusting, so you don't have to control it yourself.
