Any web page that is entered from Virtual Places becomes a chat room that can be accessed by anyone in Virtual Places.  So, if you check your hotmail account in Virtual Places anyone will be able to access the pages as you are accessing them on the web page that is a chat room in Virtual Places.
The answer is to not access email accounts or any other private web pages from the VPlaces software.
Under NO circumstances should you enter sites that require a password, since the chances are someone can easily sneek to your site, gather your private details, your passwords and abuse his newly gained knowledge by threating you, deleting your accounts or others.

This is not a VP security hole but one within certain websites, the most known example is HOTMAIL.COM's email accounts.
Be careful and you will be secure in VP.
